THE GHOST INSIDE
Fury and the Fallen Ones
Mediaskare Records

Breakdowns! Getcha fresh new breakdowns! Previously known as A Dying Dream, THE GHOST INSIDE's debut album, Fury and the Fallen Ones delivers a good dose of hardcore breakdowns, some catchy hooks and delivered with an intensity most bands of the metalcore/harcore scenes lack these days. Yes, This album makes me want to get out the dancin shoes and start throwing haymakers in a mosh pit in your neighborhood. No these southern Californian rockers aren't re-inventing the wheel when it comes to hardcore, but you don't have to do so in order to create your own identity. Just as long as you do the basics well enough to keep us all interested, and The Ghost Inside obviously dishes it out like no other.

TOP TRACKS: Faith or Forgiveness, The Brave (listen to this at least once a day), Shiner, Revolutionary, The Lion War

GDEVIL'S VERDICT: Brutal. From opening to end I wonder how many kids get knocked out at their shows because I find myself randomly throwing windmills in the most random places while listening to this album. Overall a very solid hardcore album.

GOJIRA
The Way of The Flesh
Listenable

Got some time to kill? Cause if its one thing you're gonna need when listening to Gojira's album, The Way of the Flesh is time. It clocks in at over 70 minutes! Hell the title track alone is longer than most punk albums I own! But I can say this much, it'll be the best hour you have if you are a fan of Sepultura-like metal. The Way of the Flesh is a very dark, ladden with technical and progressive guitar riffs that are sure to make any student in the art form say "wow!" I haven't heard their first album (From Mars to Sirius) but I am told by fans that their sophomore effort is exactly what was to be expected...metal perfection.

TOP TRACKS: The off timed beats in Toxic Garbage Island are insane. Adoration of None, Esoteric Surgery, Vacuity

GDEVIL'S VERDICT: When I first did some research on these guys i was stoked that they were from Bayonne. Then I found out they are actually from Bayonne, FRANCE! Hey at least the French didn't surrender when it comes to metal!

UNITED N
ATIONS
United Nations
Eyeball Records

Two words: screamo supergroup. Yes, my friends there is such a thing and its aptly named United Nations. The group consists of Thursday's Geoff Rickly and Glassjaw's Daryl Palumbo. The rest of the band is rounded out by members of various screamo/grindcore bands such as Converge, The Number Twelve Looks like You and Made Out of Babies. That's a lot of talent in my opinion. However, please, for the love of baby Jesus in a tuxedo shirt, please do not call this hardcore?? With that said, if you are a fan of any of the member's original bands, screamo, grindcore I suggest you purchase this album, or steal it from a friend. The genre of "screamo" tends to scare me away. Song structure is usually scattered and chaotic, but I've learned that that is the idea behind the madness.

TOP TRACKS: No Sympathy for a Sinking Ship, Resolution #9, The Shape of Punk That Never Came (helloooooo Refused!), Model UN

GDEVIL'S VERDICT: I liken the sound on this album to the Refused and even At The Drive In. Hell if you read the top tracks section you'll see that they do a spin off of one of the best albums of all time in the Refused, The Shape of Punk to Come. For anyone not familiar with any of the bands that influenced this group/album United nations may not be for you. But if you remember hearing One Armed Scissor and wetting your pants, all hail United Nations.
